Sparrow Construction have now finished their contract at the Aro Valley
Community Centre. They repiled the centre, put down a new Tasmanian Oak floor, put in new bathrooms that are accessible from the foyer rather than the hall, added a wheelchair ramp and handrails to the front of the centre, and did a spot of painting. The Wellington City Council's main contractors, City Care, are now moving in to execute all of the 'renewals' planned for this year, including repaiting the interior of the hall, installing better heating, and putting down some carpet in the office. The exterior of the hall will be painted after the Aro Valley Fair, and the hall may get a new, watertight roof in time for winter. No date has been officially set for the completion of the renewals, but City Care aim to complete the interior work by the date of the fair (the 26th of March). In the meantime a few of our regular groups will start back in the centre, and a few events will be taking place. We will let you know which groups will be shifting from their temporary lcations as soon as we have locked this information in!
