ABOUT US
Located in sunny Aro Park, the Aro Valley Share Shack and Community Fridge is a friendly neighbourhood spot where members of the community can donate, take, or borrow everyday household items and grab a bite to eat for free. We aim to encourage people to buy less by providing food, clothing and more to people in the community who can use it, and address the worldwide problem of waste amid the rising consumer culture of the 21st Century. The Share Shack is an Aro Valley Community Council initiative and operates on donations from businesses and the public, so we need everyone in our community to think about what to reuse, reduce, refuse, repurpose and recycle! |

Our community fridge is a place where people and businesses can donate their surplus food instead of sending it to landfill and where people in the community can help themselves to that food. A community fridge aims to promote food accessibility, and reduce food waste in the community. The food is for everyone so please help yourselves.

Need a book for the bus ride home? Come and see what's in our shelves! In the Shack there is a diverse range of usable items including books, household utensils, craft supplies, toys, plants, and tools.

100 million+ kilos of clothing are dumped into landfills by kiwis each year. We want to encourage people to swap, and mend clothing rather than adding to this shocking statistic.

We accept donations of quality goods and food. We accept fresh fruit and vegetables, cooked food from a registered kitchen, and sealed or tinned goods. Please: no home leftovers or raw meat. If you would like to give koha to support our project our account is 38-9006-0797568-00. We love our volunteers who have a monthly social meet up. Contact us If you'd like to donate your time on the project.
